Alitalia DC-8-62 I-DIWV - Old Colors

Made by: Inflight
Product #: IF80019
Scale      : 1:200
Released : limited 240 units in 2009
Purchase : HERE on special offer.
The DC-8 has quite a large number of fans as it turns out to be a classic juts like the Boeing 707. Airlines had still their retro color scheme which brings back memories of the time seeing those smokey jet engined pioneers. Inflight has a good taste when it comes to replicating classics. The heavy metal frame gives the model a solid look while the shiny paint job gives it a sleek finish. With the Italian flag on the tail wing and the light blue striped cheat line assures the attention grabbing of your model display cabinet. Do not waste any time since this already 3 year old model is scarcely available in new condition in the market.

Made by: Gemini Jets 200
Product #: G2NWA113
Scale      : 1:200
Released : 2011
Purchase : HERE (preorder)

Since I got plenty of enthusiastic mails about the previous B727 of PanAm, I figured I should keep you all satisfied with another north American carrier. This is still in the works of Gemini and available for preorder only, since the market will be expecting them soon. As we all know, Geminis' 200 series is a very exceptional line of models listed in the tops of  "value for money". If you're a Northwest fan , then this "bowling shoe" livery of this classic airliner should already be programed for deduction from your future cash!

Image of http://www.airliners.net/

This 1980 built B727-251/WL with c/n 22543 was registered for Northwest ( back then carried the Northwest Orient Airlines color scheme) on July 1st 1981 as N203US and was in service until 2003. Then further sold to Antonov Dealer Corp. registered as N727AN, painted as white as milk. Further on to 2005 sold on Turan Air under registration 4K-AZ9 but remained blank and white. Two years later re registered as 4K-8888 and still in service under ESW (ESW Business Aviation) in Azerbaijan painted with a golden belly and a detailed texture on half of the tail wing as seen on photo. Somewhere along the way, that bird got an upgrade with winglets!

This is another addition to the fleet of Pan Americans. This replica is of a cargo version of the B707-320. There is a large, well marked forward cargo door. The fuselage doors are marked with a small window visible in the doors. Tires and landing gear look great. Warning lights (very tiny) are visible. Seams are near flawless. Gemini taking the replicating skills to the max!

Qantaslink DASH 8-100 VH-TQO

Made by: Gemini Jets
Product#: G2QFA152
Scale      : 1:200
Released : 2009
Units       : 750
Purchase : HERE

Gemini Jets gave a lot of pleasure to all collectors from down under and not just! Again very finely detailed on a metal body with quite robust turning propellers and rubber wheels which roll easily across your desk... makes you just wana go back in the age of 10! Making engine sounds with your mouth and sway that model around like a fighter plane! Once you are done kidding, you will place it with respect back into your vitrine for it to graciously consume a very decent space as it is quite small in front of your Jumbo jets yet very big due to its vivid white red contrast of Qantas' color scheme. What I would prefer is more reality on those cockpit windows.

This aircraft by De Havilland is servicing the most elite airlines across the globe. However this registration was taken for a retired Fokker F-27 belonging to TAA (Trans Australia Airlines) until July of 1984. This Dash-8-100 was built in Canada in 1984 registered servicing Air Atlantic as C-GGPJ and further one purchased by Eastern Australia Airlines on January  of 1989 registered to Australia with the "VH" code.
On 2002 Qantas merged the Eastern Australian with Sunstate Airlines and Southern Australian giving this bird, the white Kangaroo livery.  From 2005 on its left the Qantas group to join under new registration VH-QQB for  Papua New Guinea (PNG)  Airlines further on 2006 to Maroomba Airlines and finally onto Skytrans Regional on 2007 until today.

Flying Tigers DC-8-63 N790FT

Made by: Inflight 200
Product #: IF86303P
Scale      : 1:200
Released : 2010
Purchase : HERE

This airframe served several cargo carriers before and after it's stint with Flying Tigers. Later it was upgraded to a -73 with larger engines and is apparently still flying for Air Transport International. There is nothing like the polished finished models of Inflight. This one shines! Be sure to use your cotton gloves to handle it. There is only one picture of this plane on A-net but it appears everything has lined up well. The windows and the cockpit windows look great. There is plenty of detail on the model, including antennas, scaled landing gear, landing and warning lights. Nose shape is correct.

Image from http://www.airliners.net/

This DC-8 73F came out of the production line with c/n 46044 in 1969 with registration N790FT for Flying Tigers.  Then bought by Cammacorp in 1983 which futher leased it to air India and funny or not, to Flying Tigers! Then as D-ADUE in 1999 to German Cargo and repainted for a short while as Lufthansa Cargo with the same registration. Further sold to Emery as N606AL, sold further to Air Transport International which they leased several times to Air India. It is still flying for ATI to the present day.

Eastern Airlines DC-8-61 N8768

Made by : Gemini Jets
Scale      : 1:250
Released : 2005
Purchase : HERE

Happy EASTER folks :)
Taken from this festive day there would not be a more suitable airline name than Eastern for today's model presentation. Gemini Jets released this model six years ago in 1000 units in the not so common scale of 1:250. To are true Eastern Airline fan, this still available for purchase unit, should not be missing from his shelf. As it is well know, Gemini Jets quality and value for money standarts ensures satisfaction. Color scheme is taken from Eastern's 1970's "Hockey stick" colors with the dark and light blue cheatline running over the arcraft windows.

This was built in 1968 as the 350th aircraft from the DC-8 production line with c/n 45983 type 61F (AF). Later under Eastern's fleet was registered as N8768 and further on got two more registrations as leased from Japan Airlines in on June of 1970 and when bought from JAL on October 1975 as JA8057. The aircraft was further on resold to United airlines two years later with registration N8177U. And the story goes on.... As United sold it in 1991 to the Irish Guiness Peat Aviation, converting it to a freighter in 1994 leasing it to Emery Worldwide. In September 2001 it was withdrawn after 31 years of service. It is now owned by Aeroturbine Inc since 2003, probably turned into spare parts.

Continental Express Embraer ERJ-145 N13538

Made by: Gemini Jets
Prod. ID: G2COA230
Scale     : 1:200
Released: 2011
Purchase: HERE

Gemini's Embraer ERJ-145 is such a neat model. I love regional jets and it is nice to see GJ contributing on this mould and on some of the prop moulds from the golden age of aviation. There are so many details on this model that add to its desirability. Multiple antennas are on the top and bottom of the fuselage. The model has warning lights on the wings and on the fuselage. Detailed landing gear are part of this model, perfectly scaled. Landing lights on the wings and on the nose gear are marked. The colors GJ has used line up perfectly with the photo images of the aircraft. This model comes with a stand and a good one. Previous GJ stands left a lot to be desired but this fits into the bottom of the model snuggle and when put together, it didn't break the plastic connector.

A model created by Phoenix Models back in 2004 in limited 600 copies, is for sale on ebay.com

This 1:400 scaled replica with product code PH4OAL045 was also repliacted by HERPA in 3 different scales (1:200, 1:400 & 1:500) in the same year while all of those have gained high value due to its unique design. They start off at minimum $70 while all at the moment being sold at are over $100. This one is starting off fairly low at only half the price! Good luck!

Olympic Airlines roots form a Greek Government airline merger back in 1951 due to finacial difficulties where the TAE GREEK NATIONAL Airlines was formed. Again that would not help much and well known Aristotle Onasis bought TAE to rename it to OLYMPIC AIRWAYS on April 6th, 1957.
This was "OA"s Golden Era as the Greeks remember it. It lasted until January 22nd 1973, when a series of personal incidences made Onasis sell all his shares to the greek government. The airline was bleeding finacialy all the way to September 29th 2009, when it was sold to Marfin Investment Group and renamed to Olympic Air.

Image from http://www.airliners.net/

This B737 under registration SX-BKD, named "AMFIPOLI" was delivered from Boeing to Olympic on the 16th of October 1991. To advertise and honour the Olympic Games of 2004 hosted in its home country, Athens Greece, Olympic airways had that special livery made for that period. The aircraft was stored at ATH in 2009 until Jan. 2011 when it was sold to AerSale Inc, transfered to Istanbul and then on to Bucharest for storage waiting for service.

Northeast Viscount 700 N6598C by Aeroclassics

Product code : ACN6598C
Release year  : 2010
Available for purchase: HERE

This Northeast Viscount 700 is the colors just before Northeast Airlines turned all their planes into Yellowbirds. April 27, 1962 this aircraft was involved in a not-fatal crash in at KLGA. The plane was scheduled to go to KDCA but overshot the runway into the water at the Laguardia into the seaplane base. The model brings to 15 the Northeast Airline replicas. The airline operated in the northeast part of the US and eventually had their Yellowbird B727 flying to Florida from Boston and NY. In 1972 they were absorbed into Delta Airlines making the Delta network much stronger in the northeast part of the US. Later Western Airlines was merged in giving Delta a "national" rather than "regional" schedule. Northeast Airlines was an American airline based in Boston, Massachusetts. It began as Boston-Maine Airways, which was founded as a Pan Am contract carrier on July 20, 1931.
